Just returned home from a fab couple of dates with the "Open Wings Broken Strings" tour. Tons of thanks to all of the fans who came to vegas and vail to support us...we had a great time!

I've been putting the finishing touches on my album; more mixing, song sequence, etc. I can't wait for you all to hear it ;-)
Also, gearing up for a super fun run of Open Wings, Broken Strings shows starting in Las Vegas this weekend. Rumor has it that yours truly, Art and Leigh will be singing a song together at some point in the evening. We haven't performed anything together yet, so watch out!

Hi all!
I just returned home from an incredible trip to New Jersey to be part of the "Light of Day" Benefit Concert. It was such a deep and rewarding experience on every level. The night was pure magic. Great cause, incredible music, what more could you ask for? Well, how about some one on one conversation with an idol and an inspiration? The first time I ever read my name in Rolling Stone was in 1992 when Bruce Springsteen mentioned that he was a fan of my singing...I've wanted to meet him ever since to express the mutuality of that statement! And I finally got to do that last night in Asbury Park. Two guys talking about doing what they love, being artists, digging deep into that beautiful part of the soul that longs to sing and express itself. It was amazing to hear and see the immense gratitude and heart that Bruce continues to shine on his fans. And to know that he also appreciates what I do feels, well, like you would expect it to feel...AWESOME! lol
Swimming with giant sea turtles, meeting the Boss, and heck...2010 isn't even 3 weeks old...BRING IT! ;-)

Hey all!
2010 is here! woohoo! here we go ;-) I just returned from a totally incredible holiday in the mystical island of Maui. The weather was fantastic and we wrapped it up with a day on a sailboat that included the sighting of at least two dozen humpback whales, babies and all. Went snorkeling and got to swim around with at least 6 gigantic sea turtles! A surreal and awesome experience. Couldn't have imagined a cooler way to start the new year!
I'm excited to be part of the "Light of Day" foundation's charity concert coming up January, 16th at the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, NJ. "Light of Day" is an incredible organization that funds research and helps people with Parkinson's Disease. More info here http://www.lightofday.org/index.php come on out!!!

I'm gonna go out on a metaphorical limb with this blog...I'm warning you ahead of time! Santa Claus came early for me this year with a brand new espresso machine, imported from Italy. I have spent the last week grinding, measuring, tamping and dosing my way into amateur barista geekdom. With espresso, it's all about extracting the essence of the coffee beans. Deep down in those dark beauties, behind a labyrinth of technical variables, lies the perfect espresso. It just so happens that this same week, I launched the EKL Fanclub. As I watched the memberships stream in, it dawned on me. I was watching my essential fans pour into the cup, if you would. I am sipping you slowly, savoring every moment and wow, you all are tasty. Thank you!!!!

Greetings all! My little alert window came up on my iphone and said "blog" and the first thing that came to my mind was how much I love this time of year. The Giving time. For those of you who have been coming to eddieklive.com for awhile, you know that Friday is my self-mandated "blog" day. It's a nice discipline for me in that it keeps me creating, especially when, like today, it's not so clear what I would even want to say! So here's my creativity for today in the form of a poem that I will write in the moment, little or no editing, here it goes...

Hello all and welcome to my house on the web...grab a chair and get cozy ;-)
I'm writing this from the Hard Rock Hotel in Biloxi, Mississippi where I will be performing as part of 3 Doors Down's "The Better Life Foundation" charity concert. Hung out into the wee hours of last night with Brad and the guys and got to catch up with Aaron Lewis too (see attached pic). We're all mutual fans of each other's music, so it was a great hang! I'm really looking forward to the show tonight and a possible surprise or two onstage...we shall see lol.
There are a few surprises coming your way next week and, in the spirit of the season, I'm gonna make you wait until morning just like christmas...feel free to leave some cookies out for me lol, and a double ristretto shot ;-)

Hello Everybody! Welcome to my little spot on the world wide interwebs :) Attached is a picture that pretty much sums up my very non-VH1 "behind the music" vices; pellegrino, espresso (not necessarily in that order) and a new book...oh, and consuming all of those in a vibey east village coffeeshop on a sunny afternoon in NYC.
I continue my recharging and relaxing at home, gearing up for what is sure to be a very busy and exciting 2010 and beyond! Check the tour dates section for just announced Open Wings Broken Strings shows. For those of you just tuning in, OWBS is an evening of acoustic aural delicacies featuring yours truly, Art Alexakis of Everclear and Leigh Nash of Sixpence None the Richer. It's an awesome show and if you need that hard-to-come-by excuse to take off and go to Las Vegas...now you have one! OWBS at the Venetian on January, 30th lol.
I've just been informed that there will be no less than FIVE pies for Thanksgiving in the Kowalczyk house. Chocolate Pudding, Banana Cream, Apple (martha stewart recipe straight down from heaven), and TWO pumpkins. Yes, I will be in the gym next week for just a little extra burn. Happy Thanksgiving ya'll and for those of you international folks that don't do this awesome holiday, have a piece of pie somewhere for me!

Greetings all! I spent the latter part of last week in NYC dialing in some new material/recording for my album. Just when I thought I was pretty much finished with it, inspiration and an unexpected, amazing collaboration came out of the blue and now there are even more awesome tunes for ya. Still slated for spring 2010, stay tuned ;)
Attached is a pic of me sporting the new EK pendant which is now officially in the store! I am so happy with it and I hope that you are too.
More Open Wings, Broken Strings dates for the beginning/spring of 2010 will be coming together this week. Also, Bootleg Volume 7 from Melbourne, AUS will be available later in the week as well!!! I think it may be the best E-Koustic bootleg yet, you will decide that as I am a little biased lol.

shhhhh...ahhh...yes, that's the sound of my batteries recharging and my ears resting lol. I've been in full on "relax" mode for the past week or so and it's been awesome. Actually, I did an all day photo shoot yesterday with Piper Ferguson which was really cool. Check out Piper's work at www.piperferguson.com. She's incredible! Her stuff has such an amazing vibe. It was a pleasure. We drank lots of coffee. She made me look super cool :) thanks piper!
I am told that the necklaces for the pendants will be in on Wednesday! woohoo! This thing has been a true pilgrimage from start to finish, replete with lots of waiting, BUT we are close, so very close...the anticipation, the moment, it's almost too much to bear! :)
OK, I'm headed back into my cocoon...a little scotch to pave the way, Joel Goldsmith book, down comforter all tucked up around the pipes....easing into...night night zzzzzzzzzzzz
